The observatory

We study divination the way you would study anything else.

Two instruments point at the same question. One runs live experiments on divination and publishes whatever the numbers say. The other traces what actually passed from esoteric practice into modern technology — and labels every claim with how much evidence stands behind it.

Instrument I

The Divination Data Lab

Persistent, participatory experiments with live dashboards. Each one states a hypothesis, names the chance baseline, locks the analysis before launch, and shows the running result — whatever it is.

Instrument II

Occult Origins of Technology

Documented lineages from esoteric practice to modern technology. Every connection carries an explicit confidence label, so a firm claim and a popular myth can never look alike.

The standing rule

Never sneering at believers, never credulous. If a divinatory practice does what it claims, a well-built test will show it; if it doesn't, the same test shows that instead. We publish the protocol before the result, so the answer can't be tuned after the fact. Believers and skeptics read the same dials here.

Opening experiments

The first instrument is built and its protocol is published. Collection opens when the data layer is live; the protocol below is already locked, timestamped, and public.

The Blind Horoscope Test

Twelve horoscopes rise each morning with their signs effaced. If the stars write anything personal into them, their readers should find their own at better than one part in twelve.

Published lineages

Long-form, sourced, and labelled. Each lineage separates what a discipline actually inherited from what it discarded.

Alchemy → Chemistry

Chemistry did not defeat alchemy — it inherited the workshop: the instruments, the operations, the habit of the written record. The cosmology it left to the dark.

Contact

Corrections are the most useful thing you can send us. If a statistic is wrong, a source is misread, or a historical claim carries the wrong evidence label, write and point at it — substantive corrections are applied and logged in the revision history rather than quietly edited away.
