Privacy
The short version: no advertising, no third-party trackers, no cookie banner, and nothing collected from you unless you actively take part in an experiment.
If you only read
Nothing identifying is stored. No analytics script, no advertising pixel, no third-party fonts or embeds — the fonts are served from this domain. Because nothing is tracked, there is no consent banner to click: there is nothing to consent to.
If you take part in an experiment
Taking part stores a random identifier in your browser's local storage. It is not linked to your name, email, or account, and it is created only when you first submit an entry — reading the site never creates one. Clearing site data removes it permanently and cannot be undone by us, because we have no way to connect the old identifier to you.
What an entry records
- The reading you picked and the sign you claimed, and whether they matched.
- The date of the entry, and the language and referral source of the visit.
- A salted, one-way hash of your IP address, used only to detect abuse. The raw address is never stored, and the hash is not published.
Accounts
Accounts are optional and exist only to carry results across devices. Sign-in is by one-time email link; we never set, receive, or store a password. Signing in adds your email address to your participant record and nothing else.
Open data
Anonymised entry data is published so anyone can check the analysis. Published files carry per-export pseudonyms rather than participant identifiers, and never contain IP hashes, email addresses, or timestamps precise enough to single someone out.
Who processes data
Hosting is Vercel; the database and authentication are Supabase. Both act as processors on our instructions. No data is sold, shared for advertising, or used to build profiles.
Your rights
You can ask what is held about you, ask for it to be deleted, or ask for a copy, by writing to the contact address. Deleting your local identifier in the browser is instant and needs no request. Because participation is anonymous, we may need you to supply your participant identifier for a request to be actionable.
Legal basis
Participation data is processed on the basis of consent, given by choosing to submit an entry; abuse-prevention hashes rest on legitimate interest in keeping a public register usable. This page describes actual behaviour and is not legal advice.
